History of Jin Shin Jyutsu: According to ancient written records, which remain in the Archives of the Imperial Palace in Japan, Jin Shin Jyutsu® was widely known before the birth of Buddha and Moses.
It was rediscovered by Master Jiro Murai early in the 20th century and his student, Mary Burmeister, brought the Art from Japan to America in the 1950's.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an art: In Jin Shin Jyutsu®, we use our two hands in the form of light touch to release congestion and harmonize the body, mind and spirit.
Our bodies contain several energy pathways that feed life into all of our cells. When one or more of these paths become blocked, this damming effect may lead to discomfort or even pain.
Blockages can occur because of our hectic lifestyle, environment and/or genetics. In Jin Shin Jyutsu®, we place our hands on specific locations (known as SELs) on the body which allows the energy to flow more freely.
Benefits: Jin Shin Jyutsu® has been shown to be useful in reducing anxiety and pain, accelerating healing and promoting a greater sense of wellness.
What to expect in a Jin Shin Jyutsu Session:
During a 60-75-minute session, the client is fully clothed lying on his/her back. The Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner begins by listening to a client's pulses to determine areas of congestion in the body.
Then through a series of steps including body reading and a client's requests, the practitioner plans flows using both hands to hold locations on the body (called Safety Energy Locks -SEL) to open and release congestion.
Suzanne graduated from Naturally Yoga’s Teacher Training Program in June of 2011 and completed the Professional Jin Shin Jyutsu® Practitioner Course co-sponsored by the Mary Burmeister Jin Shin Jyutsu Institute and Atlantic Health System in 2016.
Suzanne became a yoga instructor and a Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner because she’s passionate about helping others to realize their potential, whether it be with her students on the mat, or helping her clients gain relief from stress and discomfort via Jin Shin Jyutsu®
She was first introduced to Jin Shin Jyutsu® in 2008 while taking a self help class and learned that simply holding a finger could calm such discomforts as worry and stomach distress.
Suzanne offers private Jin Shin Jyutsu® sessions, self-help Jin Shin Jyutsu® workshops.
